When Perch reads a page

Perch reads visible listing and checkout information on the active tab when you open the extension. It does not monitor pages in the background, collect browser history, or read supplier account cookies.

What leaves your browser

For a comparison, Perch sends normalized placement fields to app.placementapi.com: publisher domain, placement type, quantity, displayed USD price, known writing and link terms, and any verified basket adjustment. Discovery requests omit account cookies and do not require an API key. Raw page HTML, passwords, target URLs and anchor text are not included in these discovery requests.

When layout recognition is enabled, a separate request may send fixed interface labels such as “Publisher” and “Price,” plus fixed page-type signals, through PlacementAPI to TypeSafe/Jev. Other labels are blanked. This request excludes row values, publisher domains, prices, page URLs, account information and HTML. Label judgments may be cached to avoid repeat inference.

Storage and service protection

The current flow reads the page afresh each time. Legacy local drafts, if present from an earlier preview, remain in Chrome extension storage but are not loaded by the current flow. Comparison inputs are not saved as a catalogue or browsing history. PlacementAPI uses dated, hashed network-address identifiers and aggregate counters to enforce public usage limits. Hosting services may process ordinary request metadata for security and operation.

When you choose to buy

Choosing the better-price action transfers selected placements to PlacementAPI’s checkout review. Purchase details, receipt email, payment and account information are handled there under PlacementAPI’s privacy policy. Perch never authorizes a purchase for you.

This website

This site uses no advertising trackers, analytics scripts or signup forms. Cloudflare serves the pages and may process network metadata to deliver and secure the site. Contact messages are received when you choose to email us.

Contact and removal

Remove Perch through Chrome’s extension settings to stop its access and remove its local extension storage. For privacy questions or requests, contact hello@placementapi.com.
